The AAFCO in a 100% bastard move have copyrighted their food definitions, which restricts the average consumer’s ability to look up what pet food manufacturers mean when they list “meat by-product meal” vs. “meat by-product.” This is what happens when copyright law gets out of controls, kids!
However, Susan Thixton at Truth About Pet Food has found a delightful workaround by rephrasing their ingredient definitions and publishing them from everyone to see. Check out her AAFCO pet food definitions for consumers.
